Long Page Website - Beatrate

Beatrate is a band in Russia. Their long page website simple, straight to the point, and doesn't try too hard. As you scroll down you see a collage of pictures of performances, photoshoots, and accolades. I like viewing their content in this format because it quickly shows you how far they've come along. My favorite thing about this design format is that their social media handles are at the very bottom of the page, instead of them being at the very top or on some type of sidebar. It's like they're saying "Well, do you like what you see? Then connect with us" .

HTML5 - 3 Dreams Of Black

Ranked #3 on Ebizma's Top 10 Best HTML5 Websites of 2014, "3 Dreams of Black" is an interactive film by Chris Milk, a music video director and photographer. It showcases the creative potential of WebGL, which is a context of the HTML5 canvas element that enables hardware-accelerated 3D graphics in the web browser without a plug-in.

It's basically an interactive music video for the song "Black" by producers Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi (off of their 2011 collaboration album "Rome"). The singing was done by Norah Jones.

It was pretty engaging. I like how the first-person point of view moves with the mouse. In the scene with the cityscape, vegetation grows on the buildings wherever you point the mouse. And in another scene there are a flock of eagles that follow your mouse wherever you position it. Throughout the film various creatures and architecture come into frame. The dreamy music makes the experience even more fitting with the fantasy motif.

Interactive Blend's Portfolio

Interactive Blend is a team of designers led by Louis Gubitosi and Cliff Hazelton. Their portfolio has it's own navigation bar to showcase their versatility. What I like about this is that it's neatly displayed, which makes it easy to explore. What's cool is that there's a "We're currently available for hire" with a button next to it that says "Get In Touch", which directs you to their Contact page without you having to scroll your mouse all the way to the top to hit Contact. I like how clicking the thumbnails makes the project bigger for closer viewing (if it was a web design, it redirects you to their client's actual website). I've tried to find flaws but there's really nothing I would tweak.

Joshua Davis' Portfolio

Joshua Davis' portfolio site is a well designed website that showcases his graphic design skills, . His recent work is neatly displayed up top and as you scroll down you can back track towards his older stuff. I like how there's a variety of things he has done; such as but not limited to: skateboard decks, murals, and shirt designs. At first glance the pictures look all jumbled up but once you start paying closer attention, you can see that each project is separated by blank boxes with text (name of projects) in them. It compliments his busy lifestyle. His contact information (address of operation and social media handles) is neatly located on the top left corner of the screen. If there's anything I'd like to tweak, it would probably have to be to add some type of Archive. Instead of having to scroll all the way down until you get to 2012.

Noyse Works

One of my favorite graphic designers is Noyse Works. He designs a lot of covers for hip hop artists and posts a number of Photoshop Tutorials on YouTube. He operates out of Las Vegas, Nevada. With a strong social media presence built over the years, Noyse puts out the latest information in regards to recent projects he's working on. Along with his videos on YouTube, he also has a line of very technical Photoshop Tutorials for sale on his website. He also post vlogs of his life as a designer and talks about the business. He is someone I look up to in the design world and the epitome of turning a hobby into a career.
